THE BEAUTY OF THE PUNA SALTEÑA
The most beautiful landscapes in the Andean region of the country are found in the Puna Salteña. Between mountains and valleys, at a height ranging from 3,500 to 4,000 meters above sea level. From here you can admire some of the most famous North Argentinian volcanoes: Socompa Volcano, Llullaillaco Volcano, and Sulfur Volcano.
The Puna Salteña belongs to the climatic region of the Puna de Atacama, shared in northern Chile with arid climate, wind, sun during the day and cold at night. This place is said to be one of the most magical in the country because the sky is crystal clear on starry nights.
SALARES
In this area there are also some salt flats, such as the Arizaro – one of the largest in Argentina, that of Rincón, Los Cangrejillos and others of a smaller size.
SALAR ARIZARO
On the arid high plateau of the Argentine province of Salta, just east of the Atacama desert and the eastern mountain range of the Andes Mountains, the dry lake beds indicate a time when the landscape was bathed in water. Today it is dry rock with a salt crust, the remains of evaporation, sunlight and fierce winds. This is the Salar de Arizaro. The Salar de Arizaro is one of the largest in the world with an area of 1,800 km2.
But without a doubt what will catch your attention the most in the Salar Arizaro is the Cone of Arita, 200 m high, perfectly made of lava. Many people decide to visit this Salina because it is a suitable place for meditation.
